Greenport, Long Island
Plan Your Next Weekend Getaway
Look no further if you’re ready to have a quick escape from NYC! Greenport is a beautiful seaside town, just a 2.5 hour drive from Manhattan.
Out East, Hamptons and Montauk may draw the crowds and fame, but the North Fork should not be overlooked. Most people know of this area for its wineries, but I assure you there is much more beyond the grapes.
The thin stretch of land from Mattituck to Orient has high rated restaurants, beautiful beaches, and cool hotels… just begging to be explored. But my favorite part is that no matter what you’re doing out there… the water is not far. You can almost hear the waves licking the shores from your hotel room, the rooftop bar, the sailboat or your seat at the vineyard.
Does it get any better?

Things to do
What I love about Greenport is it’s more than just a beach town. If the weather isn’t sunny and warm, doesn’t mean your weekend plans are ruined! Here are some activities that can’t be missed.
Enjoy a seaside tasting at Kontokosta Winery
Other well known vineyards in the North Fork include Lenz Winery, Osprey’s Dominion, Duck Walk, RGNY, and my favorite Macari Vineyards.
Explore several of them with the help of North Fork Wine Tour
The Village Blacksmith - dating back to the 1870’s !
Harbe’s Family Farm is great for picking up goods at the farmers market, wine, and a great place to take kids
Lavender By the Bay - a field of purple dreams
Check out the Antique Carousel in Mitchell Park
Charter a sailboat with Layla around the Long Island Sound for a morning or afternoon sail with the opportunity to anchor and swim, or at sunset. Pack a picnic and enjoy! Another similar option is East End Sail
Restaurants
There are more great places to eat than you’ll have time to visit in one weekend. It will leave you wanting to return again and try them all! And when you’re this close the sea, delicious options from the water can be found on most menus.
Dinner
Anker (we dined here and loved it!)
Black Llama for drinks is where we went after dinner the first night! So cute
Seaside Bars
Claudio’s - usually has live music on the weekends, and so much fun!

Weathered Barn - home decor
Common Ground - jewelry
Tea and Tchotchkes - boho chic

Orient Beach State Park
McCabe Beach
Goldsmith Inlet
We had such a fun weekend in Greenport & I’m grateful that our friends wedding is what brought us there after many years of talking about it! Now we’re planning on many more trips back in the future.
Our friends were married at Peconic Bay Yacht Club over Memorial Day Weekend. The wedding was one of my favorites ever, filled with such happy memories. It was a spectacular display of love and friendship, and in such a beautiful setting overlooking the water.
