Restaurant Spotlight: Bhatti

IMG_5775.jpg

Bhatti is a hidden gem in Kips Bay, and if you’re looking to dip your toes in the ocean that is Indian Cuisine this is a great place to do it.

Though I pass the restaurant every day, it took me almost 2 years of living in the neighborhood to finally walk in with Ryan last week for dinner. It was a warm day, and we grabbed a seat outside in the covered outdoor dining section. Bhatti decorated it so cute, with brightly colored flowers, greenery, and lights. Though it’s on a busy corner there is some great loud music, and a buzzing vibe on most nights.

The Food

Here is what we ordered! It was all amazing, and I recommend getting this same order for 2 people or adding more plates if you are in a larger group!

  • BANARSI CHAAT

grilled potato patties, chickpeas, tamarind, yogurt sauce

  • BHUNNEY ALOO KE KULHEY

    cheese stuffed grilled potatoes

  • CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA

grilled chicken in a creamy tomato onion sauce w/ green chilies

  • NAAN

    butter / garlic / chili

The menu has so many dishes to choose from, and tons of vegetarian options.

As far as beverages, the restaurant has a small curated wine list but is also BYOB. Such a win in NYC!! There is a very reasonable corkage fee of $15/bottle, and two wine shops next door to choose from.

I’m a foodie, but I sometimes have to push myself to be more adventurous rather than sticking with the comfort food I know and love.

After dining at Bhatti, I realize now that the flavor in Indian cuisine is SO GOOD, and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far. It’s made me want to explore more spots in my neighborhood.

I think Ryan and I are ready to finally move on from cooking up naan, shawarma, samosas and chicken tikka masala at home. There’s a A LOT more out there to enjoy. Here are the top ones on my list, that I can’t wait to try!

Enjoy it! Xx Gab
